What to do when something breaks or is not working:

If at home: Submit an email (if applicable) to studenthelp@vvsd.org or call student helpdesk line at 815-372-6988. We will arrange an appointment to swap your device with a working one.
What to do for a lost chromebook?
Pickup a loaner chromebook to use for the day in your CCC (HS/MS), get a loaner chromebook from teacher (ES), or call student helpdesk. You have 10 business day to find it before marked is indefinitely lost - fees will be applied for negligence. If a chromebook is lost and you think it was stolen or can't find it, a police report may be filed to avoid fee charges.
Can I get a loaner without an id? When do loaners need to be returned? Will I get fined?
A Student ID must be present when obtaining a loaner Chromebook or you will have to have proof from a teacher. Loaners must be taken care of and be returned at the end of the day to the CCC (HS/MS) or to teacher (ES). If not returned, another loaner chromebook will not be provided until the original chromebook is returned. Fees will be charged if it is not brought back for certain amount of days.
I dropped water on my device, will I get charged?
There is a 3- strike policy rule: accidental damage vs negligence. If proven to be accidental, you have until your 3rd replacement w/o fees being applied. If proven to be negligence, fees will be charged.
Why can’t I print from my chromebook?
Unfortunately we do not support printing from a chromebook. Most work can be turned in digitally by a student through their classes/teachers. If printing is needed, please contact your LMC director.
Why can’t I install apps?
Non-district applications and extensions are disabled per VVSD policy. They will remain blocked indefinitely. If the application/extension is really in need of use, please speak with your teacher first and have them contact the Help Desk to enter a work order request.
A website is blocked and it is school related.

I don't have my child/student's login information to log into the my child's chromebook.
Parents will need to get login information from their child or have the child log in for them. If the child cannot log in - such as they forgot password, please contact the Help Desk. We are not able to give out login information or change student password on parent's request.
